The Pittsburgh International Airport is located approximately 18 miles west of the University of Pittsburgh. From there, you can take a bus or cab.

Please note that within the Oakland area there are two educational buildings with the name of Alan Magee Scaife Hall – the School of Medicine is located at 3550 Terrace Street on the Upper Campus of the University of Pittsburgh (across from Salk Hall and the Petersen Events Center) while the other Alan Magee Scaife Hall  is located off Frew Street on Carnegie Mellon University's campus. We recommend advising your driver of our street address when traveling to our school.

Please note that within the Oakland area there are two educational buildings with the name of Alan Magee Scaife Hall – the School of Medicine is located at 3550 Terrace Street on the Upper Campus of the University of Pittsburgh (across from Salk Hall and the Petersen Events Center) while the other Alan Magee Scaife Hall  is located off Frew Street on Carnegie Mellon University's campus. 

From the East

Cars traveling from the east via the PA Turnpike (I-76) should take Exit 57 to I-376 West. From I-376, take Exit 3B, Oakland (University of Pittsburgh). Turn slightly right onto Bates Street. Stay on Bates Street through the first traffic light and through the bend. Turn left onto McKee Place. Stay on McKee Place, which turns into Darragh Street when crossing Forbes Avenue. Follow Darragh Street up the hill several blocks. Turn right on Terrace Street. Follow Terrace Street 1.5 blocks. Alan Magee Scaife Hall is located on the right side of the street across from the Petersen Event Center.

From the West

Cars traveling from the west via the PA Turnpike (I-76) should take Exit 28 and follow I-79 South to I-279 South. (You'll exit to the left off I-79). Follow I-279 toward the city, to the I-376 Monroeville Exit. Follow I-376 to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland Exit 72A. Forbes Avenue leads directly into the Pitt campus. From Forbes Avenue, turn left on Oakland Avenue. Oakland Avenue turns into DeSoto Street. Follow DeSoto Street to the top of the hill; Alan Magee Scaife Hall is on the left side of the hill, past UPMC Presbyterian Hospital's emergency entrance.

From the North

Take I-79 South to I-279 South. (You'll exit to the left off I-79). Follow I-279 to I-579, to the I-376 Monroeville Exit. Follow I-376 to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland Exit 72A. Forbes Avenue leads directly into the Pitt campus. From Forbes Avenue, turn left on Oakland Avenue. Oakland Avenue turns into DeSoto Street. From the South

To travel from downtown Pittsburgh to the School of Medicine, take the public bus system into Oakland (Port Authority fare is $2.75 each way and exact change is needed). All buses with the numbers 61 and 71 serve the Oakland area. The closest bus stop to the Convention Center is at Sixth Avenue and Smithfield Street (approx. 3 blocks). To return to the Megabus stop from our campus, take any bus with the number of 61 or 71 and get off at Sixth Avenue and Smithfield Street, the same stop you originally boarded.
