Faculty

The goal of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is to educate physicians who are science-based, skilled, and compassionate clinicians prepared to meet the challenges of practicing medicine in the 21st century and to conduct cutting-edge biomedical research that is focused on bettering the human condition and advancing the fundamental understanding of medical science. This goal is achieved by the dedication of our award-winning, internationally-recognized, and student-focused faculty members.

As of the 2021-22 academic year, the School of Medicine has 2,506 regular faculty members plus 1,913 volunteer faculty. Of these, 66 are current members of the Academy of Master Educators, an organization that recognizes and awards excellence in medical education.
