The goal of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is to educate physicians who are science-based, skilled, and compassionate clinicians prepared to meet the challenges of practicing medicine in the 21st century and to conduct cutting-edge biomedical research that is focused on bettering the human condition and advancing the fundamental understanding of medical science.  This goal is achieved by the dedication of our award winning, internationally recognized and student focused faculty members.

For the 2014-2015 academic year, the School of Medicine has 2,121 regular faculty members plus 2,839 volunteer faculty. Of these, 79 are current members of the Academy of Master Educators, an organization that recognizes and awards excellence in medical education.
