Student Support

The Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion offers student support such as academic counseling, peer tutorial services, professional networking, a physician partners mentor program, emergency fund, and various other resources to assist students and enhance your medical school experience.

DEI Programs

The Office of Diversity Programs invites participation in pre-medical enrichment, visiting clerkships, and a visiting elective scholarship program


The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion maintains a robust events calendar with programs which foster an inclusive environment for students, trainees, and faculty within the health professions schools at Pitt.

Affinity Groups and University Resources

Student groups within the School of Medicine and the University of Pittsburgh more broadly represent a myriad of communities. The UPSOM Student Executive Council maintains a student group directory for medical students. Examples include the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA), Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), Medical Student Ptive Alliance (MSPA), and South Asian Medical Student Association (SAMSA). The Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion lists community groups and equity initiatives, such as the Chinese Affinity Group (CAG), Equipoise African/Black Affinity Group, Pitt Queer Professionals (PQP), Pitt Muslim Affinity Group, and Pitt Disability Community.
