UNDERGRADUATE INSTITUTION:

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO ATTEND PITT MEDICINE:
Going into the application process, Pitt Medicine was my number one choice primarily given that my family connection to the city of Pittsburgh. My mother's entire side of the family hails from the Steel City and my grandfather is an alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Growing up in Florida and attending an undergraduate university in Florida, I knew that for medical school being in close proximity to my greatest support system was a top priority. Now I can walk to my grandmother's apartment and visit with my cousins, aunts, and uncles on a regular basis - this is truly priceless. Aside from my family, the global presence of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC also drew me in, as I have always had a passion for travel and diverse educational opportunities.

DESCRIBE YOUR LIFE AS A MEDICAL STUDENT AT PITT MED:
Going into medical school, no one ever told me it was going to be easy, but they sure enough said it would be worth it and as a second-year medical student, I can whole heartedly vouch for that statement. Of course, I work a lot, but upon entering medical school I made a promise to never lose myself nor forget my purpose and passion; through time management, planning, and prioritizing, I hope to stay true to that promise throughout the span of my medical education.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE PITT MEDICINE COMMUNITY:
The Pitt Medicine community is inclusive, accepting, and supportive. I feel very lucky to attend medical school at an institution where everyone (colleagues and faculty) are equally as supportive of my dreams and ambitions!

WHAT STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS ARE YOU INVOLVED IN:
Student Council: Class of 2021 Treasurer; Mr. Pitt Med: Coordinator; Dermatology Interest Group and Student Dermatology Clinic for the Underserved: Co-Coordinator; American Medical Association: Vice President of Membership; The Student National Medical Association: Historian; In addition, I am a student interviewer and host through the Office of Admissions.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WITH YOUR SPARE TIME:
I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family & friends, trying new workout classes, and visiting local farmer's markets.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR STUDENTS APPLYING TO PITT MEDICINE:
1. Select a medical school and community that you feel meshes with your personality and where you feel you can fully express your authentic self. 2. Medical school is hard (to say the least) and it's too easy to get bogged down in studying and your ""to-do lists."" But, please don't forget to take care of yourself. Don't lose yourself and don't forget your purpose in attending medical student, as well as your passions outside of medicine. In order to give yourself and your talents to others, you have to take care of yourself as well.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING IN THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH:
I love going to visit Point State Park on a sunny day or watching the sunset from the top of the OC Lot Parking Lot on a clear night.

WHAT DID YOU (OR ARE YOU PLANNING TO) DO DURING THE SUMMER AFTER YOUR FIRST YEAR OF MEDICAL SCHOOL:
Research and Shadowing

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COURSE AT PITT MEDICINE:
I really enjoyed the Ethics, Law, and Professionalism course, as well as Microbiology.
